Georgia Republican lawmakers introduced a bill on Tuesday that would ban abortion pills from being delivered by mail and require a physician to perform a physical exam and ultrasound 24 hours before allowing the medicine to be dispensed. Led by Sen. Bruce Thompson of White County, Senate Bill 351 also would necessitate women signing an extensive consent form. "What we're asking is that these females have a physician involved," Thompson said. Rep. Park Cannon, an Atlanta Democrat, countered, "We need to continue to reframe this issue. Access to abortion in Georgia is supported by 70 percent of voters and the elected officials are playing games with health care during a pandemic." kob.com
