From the venue:Michigan-raised, New York-based René Kladzyk makes music and other performance art under the Ziemba moniker. The fruit of Kladzyk’s audio labors are atmospheric, reflective, and deliberate. Ziemba is not obvious background music, but that isn’t meant as a slight. A clear mind and lively mental energy is helpful for unpacking the sometimes sparse music, pulling deeper meaning from “it can’t be hard†— the stark line she chirps on the Nearness EP’s titular track, buried in airy jingle bell textures and minimal keys. Kladzyk’s debut full-length, Hope is Never, follows a similarly meditative path. There are complexities and loops and a specific softness necessary to further untangle the complicated opus constructed within. Although it can take stamina to do so, it’s stamina well spent.
