From the venue:

The new year is often a good time to assess the tools and skills you have to take care of your mental and emotional health and to reach out and learn new skills. Charis welcomes Licensed Clinical Social Worker Guneeta Singh to share a brief workshop introducing information on how to utilize somatic experiencing and how trauma gets “stuck” in the body. In the workshop she will provide tools to help you be able to self-sooth when your body and mind feel deregulated. You will engage experientially to learn these tools so you will know how to use them when you need them. This workshop is open to anyone who is curious about somatic experiencing and would like to have a few quick tools for self-care under their belt.

Guneeta Singh (she/her) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has over 10 years of experience working with survivors of trauma. She is trained in cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and somatic experiencing techniques. She utilizes somatic experiencing techniques to assist her clients in gently processing the trauma that they have suffered. She does this by helping clients process the fight, flight, and freeze responses that get stuck in the body as a result of trauma. She trusts in the intelligence held in the body to take care of itself, and assist clients in connecting with the body’s innate intelligence. She works with clients suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, dissociative identity disorder, chronic pain, fibromyalgia, grief and loss, car accidents, war trauma, and medical trauma. She speaks Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi, and English.

This is a Charis Circle Urban Sustainability and Wellness Event. The suggested donation is $5 but no one will be turned away for lack of funds.
