Italian-American Jazz singer and composer Roberta Setzu was born in Cagliari, Sardinia, an island in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea.
The wonders of the rich Mediterranean culture, musical heritage, and rhythms and sounds deeply influenced her singing and approach to musical composition.
At the age of 19, Roberta began writing her first compositions for various theater productions in Italy, and since has been performing and touring with world music artists.
After discovering her love for Jazz and its powerful freedom of expression, she began studying and participating in different Jazz seminaries, particularly the ‘Nuoro Jazz’ seminars curated by Paolo Fresu. It was there that she studied under great artists like Maria Pia Devito and Elisabetta Antonini.
In 2008, Roberta graduated from Cagliari University in Sardinia with a B.A. in Jazz.
For the past eleven years, Roberta has been performing and collaborating with musicians and composers of incredible caliber such as Piero Angeli, Dario Forzato, and Kevin Bales. She currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia, where she recently finished recording her first solo album, entitled, ‘As You Are,’ co produced by Grammy Nominated pianist Kevin Bales set to release on February 22 2020.
