Art and About Walking Tour: Downtown Central Business District
From the venue:
This walking tour will span a few blocks of Downtown’s Fairlie-Poplar Historic District, which was Atlanta’s central business district at the turn of the century. Many of the buildings are more than a hundred years old, but a few newer and more contemporary construction projects are now juxtaposed against these brick façades of the past. Some of the oldest high-rise buildings in Atlanta will be featured on the tour, including the original Flatiron Building that predates the one in New York City by five years.
For this walking tour, we will meet on the plaza of the Central Library, located on Forsyth Street, N.W., between Williams Street, N.W., and Carnegie Way, N.W. The closest MARTA station is Peachtree Center. There are also multiple parking garages located within a two-block radius. The tour will last ninety minutes. Headsets will be provided. Stools are available upon request.
