Gallery Talk with artist Aime Esslinger
From the venue:
In her work, Atlanta artist Amie Esslinger explores and expands on the hidden elements of the physical world, highlighting apparent contradictions between order and disorder, observable and unobservable, beauty and monstrosity to emphasize the richness, potential, and threat of the physical. In this gallery talk, Esslinger will discuss her new work created over eight months of the pandemic for the exhibition And I Must Scream. In the site-specific installation, which spans multiple galleries, she uses motifs from microbiology and experiments with material, scale, and replication to generate an aesthetic that echoes the complexity inherent in natural systems, while creating new mysterious organisms, both alluring and repelling.
